Call No 23

20/11/11: Launched to assistance of 17metre trawler Tavana, 2pob, aground on Mersea Stone close to entrance of Tollesbury Creek, 16 miles WSW of Walton. Vessel had been aground since close to high water the previous evening, whilst on passage from Sunderland to Queenborough. Attempts to refloat vessel were unsuccessful. Two crew were taken off and landed at Brightlingsea. Lifeboat then returned to station.

6/11/2011: Launched to search for 30ft converted ship's boat Chantala 2pob, which had reported by mobile phone to Thames CG that it had broken down on passage from Southend to the River Crouch. Sheerness LB also launched. Casualty located close to Barrow No. 14 buoy by Sheerness LB which was then diverted to a second casualty. Walton crewman transferred by Y-Boat to assist in connecting tow. Due to weather conditions Walton LB then took Chantala in tow to Southend where tow was handed over to Southend A75.

28/09/2011: Launched to evacuate sick man form yacht Right-E –Oh, 2 miles north of the pier. Paramedic taken on lifeboat transferred to yacht. Casualty taken on board and landed by stretcher at Walton Pier. Casualty's wife also landed by lifeboat and two lifeboat crew transferred to yacht to take yacht to Titchmarsh Marina.

18/8/2011: Launched to assistance of 35ft yacht Bakarauda, 2pob, with mechanical failure close
to Wallet 4 Buoy three miles SSE of pier. Towed Shotley Marina.

12/08/2011: Launched to trace vessel with open carrier blocking Channel 16 VHF in vicinity of Wallet Spitway. DF bearing obtained at Spitway showing target moving down River Crouch. Yacht Ygraine found just inside River Crouch 19 miles SW of station. After communication from lifeboat yacht's radio turned off and Channel 16 cleared. Lifeboat then returned to station.

7/8/2011: Launched to assistance of 36ft yacht Dalliance, 4 pob, with sail and engine problems
plus sea sick crew member one mile north of NE Gunfleet Buoy seven miles east of Walton. On
arrival in severe rain squalls tow rope connected and yacht towed to Titchmarsh Marina.

29/7/2011: Launched to assistance of 43ft motor yacht Mystique, 2pob, aground on SW Sunk Sand
east of Barrow 6 Buoy, 14 miles south of Walton. Y boat launched to put lifeboat crewman on
board to check for damage and later to attach towrope to Mystique's anchor cable. On flood tide
casualty towed clear of sands and found to be undamaged. Mystique escorted until owner satisfied
that all was well and made its own way to Burnham. LB then returned to station.

24/7/2011: Launched to assist 14ft-angling boat Missy G 1pob broken down ½ mile SW of pier.
Towed to Frinton launching slipway.

15/7/2011: Launched to assist 5000 ton Belgian dredger Congo River, 34 pob with unexploded
parachute mine on board near Sunk Inner anchorage, nine miles ESE of the pier. Navy EOD team
and equipment put aboard and lifeboat then stood by dredger until no longer required. The dredger
was only launched in January 2011, entering full service in May.

rudder near NE Gunfleet Buoy, 7 miles east of pier. Towed Levington Marina.

9/6/2011: Launched to assist 47ft Belgian yacht Passa da Onca 2 pob, in Swin Channel 7 miles SSE of Walton. On arrival it was found that the yacht's spinnaker had broken loose and drifted under the keel fouling the rudder and propeller. LB crewmember put on board to assist in setting up tow and yacht towed to Shotley Marina.

15/5/2011: Launched to assistance of 26ft yacht Sundance 3pob, aground on Gunfleet Sands near
Wallet 6 Buoy 8 miles SSW of Walton Pier. On arrival at position Y –Boat 219 deployed for first
time on service call to check yacht's situation. Lifeboat then anchored and stood by until yacht
refloated with assistance from Y-Boat. Yacht then proceeded on passage to Ramsgate. Y-Boat
recovered and lifeboat returned to station.

12/5/2011: Launched to evacuate injured Dutch crewmember of Wind Farm Support Vessel Sea
Echo
. Transfer effected near Wallet 2 Buoy four miles SE of Walton Pier. Lifeboat first aiders
carried out first aid on casualty who had a serious facial injury before he was landed at Harwich
LB station to awaiting ambulance for onward transfer to Colchester Hospital.

8/5/2011: Launched to assistance of 36ft yacht Dalua 1pob, reported aground and pounding on
Gunfleet Sands, near Gunfleet Spit Buoy, 5 miles SSE of pier. On arrival at position the yacht had
refloated. Lifeboat crew member put aboard casualty to check for damage and found that none had
occurred. Lifeboat escorted across sands to Wallet 2 Buoy where casualty indicated he was now
happy to make his own way to Ipswich.

25/4/2011: While 16-19 was on exercise off Walton Pier tasked by CG to assist 53 ft yacht Wild Dream II, 2 pob, with damaged steering some 35 miles SE of Walton. The yacht was returning to Shotley from Ostend and was drifting in the middle of the SW traffic lane leading to the Dover Strait. On arrival tow passed and yacht towed to Shotley.

24/4/2011: Launched with Clacton A75 to assist 24ft motor cruiser Arthur II, 2 pob making water from coolant system leak one mile north of Wallet Spitway Buoy, nine miles SW of Walton Pier. On arrival Clacton A75 put pump aboard to contain leak and towed casualty to Brightlingsea.

10th April: New station Tamar Class Lifeboat IRENE MURIEL REES (16-19—ON 1299) arrived at Walton to begin crew training before becoming operational. During crew training the following services were performed:

13/4/2011: Paged to assist 32ft angling boat Morning Breeze disabled with engine failure near Wallet 2 Buoy, four miles SE of pier. DI approved tasking of Tamar lifeboat, as it was due to leave on training exercise. On arrival, casualty towed to Halfpenny Pier Harwich.

25/3/2010: Launched on service to 30ft yacht Phaerda 2 pob aground on
Sunk Sands thirteen miles south of the pier. On arrival two yachtsmen taken on board
lifeboat which then anchored to await the flood tide. Yacht refloated without damage at
02:00 and crew put back on board. The yacht then proceeded to Ramsgate.
