Crew members Miranda Rayner and Dale Steggles have taken over from Stewart Oxley (who will continue at the station as Lifeboat Operations Manager).
Miranda Rayner has been at the station for 28 years serving firstly as a Shore Helper before becoming the station’s first female crew member. Miranda is a self-employed personal trainer and yoga teacher working from home so can often be available to assist the media during working hours. Dale Steggles has been a crew member at the station for nine years. Dale is employed as an IT Architect in the insurance industry.
Both are delighted to have this opportunity to assist the media in spreading the news of the RNLI's valuable work saving lives at sea. Handing over to the new team, Lifeboat Operations Manager, Stewart Oxley said: ‘I’m really pleased that we have such a knowledgeable pair to take on this important role.
'Keeping our local community up to date with call-outs and activity at Walton and Frinton is one of the most important things we need to do. The background both Miranda and Dale have in being part of the crew means they know just what is involved in everything that is going on to operate and maintain the services our volunteers provide at the lifeboat station. ‘As well as already being lifeboat crew these additional media responsibilities they have also taken on demonstrate the dedication and commitment of our volunteer lifesavers.'
