The "Kenneth Thelwall II" at Walton-on-the-Naze

The Boathouse at Walton-on-the-Naze

Celebration of opening of new berth May 1st 2005

There has been a lifeboat at Walton-on-the-Naze since 1884, which up until 2005 laid afloat on a mooring.  Now we have a purpose-built berth alongside Walton Pier, which was officially opened on May 1st 2005 at a cost of approx one million pounds, which at certain times is open for the public to view & look around.

Walton, Harwich and Clacton Lifeboats on exercise

The year 2005 was our busiest year for 20 years with 34 call outs, mostly to leisure crafts. We have a Tyne class lifeboat, which was a bequest of Mr Kenneth Thelwall in 1989.

Our boathouse is situated at the pier entrance where we have a gift shop open daily from March till December run by a dedicated team of volunteers led by Mrs Merilyn McCree.
